The Trois Becs
May 5th, 2007 by JamesWhile I was in France my brother and I climbed the Trois Becs. Well walked. But it was kind of climbing because I kept slipping and smashing my EOS 3 into rocks. My 35mm lens sometimes gets jammed between 0.25 – 0.3m when focusing now.
This story is, in true James style, muddled up.
We went to a small village first, to buy some goodies for the mountain picnic. This is a bridge in the village. The colour of the water is gorgeous but not quite evident here. See that mountainous horizon? Yeah, that is where we are headed.
We’re going to that far one on the right.
This is the view from a village near the foot. We’re going up the steepest route. Shortest, but hard. Hard I tell you.
These rocks were really tricky, step on one and it would fall from under you, down the mountain…
STEEP.
We found this on the mountain. We thought it was German but we were not sure.
Weird
Quick pee
Almost there
Finding a place to picnic
Here seems about right. Oh, and quick note: Don’t climb a mountain wearing jeans. Or Nikes. Idiot.
I think this fly was drinking sweat from my t-shirt. That’s gross dude.
Nice straight photo.
So yeah then we went back down. I said “never again” but I look forward to next time! Climbing a mountain is great, because after a certain point there is no turning back, however much you don’t want to go anymore. Nobody is going to come and get you, you finish it. Much better than going to the gym.
On the way back down. One word: Trek. I did not take many photos as I had to concentrate on not falling down the mountain.
Tomorrow I’m going to the zoo with Tanya, Sandra and Brandy. I’ll do my best to liberate the animals.
